Holiday Shopping Safety

Keep your money safe.

The holiday shopping season is in full swing. If you are shopping online this year, keep your money safe with these tips from TFCU.

Keep your personal information safe.

No one should be asking for your banking username and password, so be sure to keep that information confidential. Protect your online accounts by using unique, strong passwords and utilize multi-factor authentication, when possible.

Verify the legitimacy of websites.

If you are shopping online, make sure the website URL matches the SSL certificate by looking for the lock icon next to the URL you are visiting. Visit websites directly, and avoid clicking on third-party links sent by email or text as they could be sending you to a spoofed site.

Beware of scams.

If you receive an email or text message you weren’t expecting that includes suspicious links or attachments, don’t click on the links or open the attachments, and immediately delete it. TFCU will never ask for your online banking username, password, or authentication codes. Do not give these to anyone.

Additional Resources.

One of the best ways to discover unauthorized or suspicious activity on your account is by keeping a close eye on your transactions. You can also enroll in Visa Purchase Alerts to receive a text message or email when your TFCU MoneyPlus™ card or credit card has been used.
