Oklahoma City University student, Amy Crabaugh, nominated her best friend and fellow OCU student, Shelbey Cornelson, to win a $500 Visa gift card in the annual TFCU “Thankful for You” contest on social media.
Amy has been a lifelong TFCU member. “My grandma set up a TFCU account for me before I was even born,” she says.
Both Amy and Shelbey play college softball together. “We recently won the national championship together. It was life-altering. She’s my pitcher and I’m her catcher. It’s the greatest accomplishment I’ve ever had and I couldn’t have done it without her. So I’m very thankful for her,” said Amy.
“We actually used to play against each other and we were not fans of one another. Now we’re best friends, so it’s full circle,” Shelbey said. “You can’t just pitch to anybody,” said Amy, “you have to have confidence in your catcher. You have to have the perfect one.” Amy and Shelbey now wear matching national championship rings. “She makes me stronger even when I doubt myself. Some bonds can’t be broken,” said Amy.
