When Timara Kinchion read about TFCU’s annual “Thankful for You” contest on social media, her sister, Twanyae Knichion, immediately came to mind. “She struggles with stage four cancer,” said Timara. “I admire Twanyae because she still manages to get up even though she’s in pain and struggles with just everyday life with her condition. She manages to talk to people and laugh with people.”
Timara added, “She’s my youngest sister and my closest sister. We share just about everything with each other. She’s my best friend. She is the perfect candidate.”
When Twanyae was asked how it felt to be nominated for TFCU’s “Thankful for You” contest by her sister she shared, “I love it. When you try so hard to just keep a smile on your face, you think that other people just don’t see that. The fact that she sees that means a lot to me.”
Now in their early 20s, the two love to laugh and reminisce about past relationships, high school at NE Academy in Oklahoma City, and talk about hair and makeup. “What I admire most about Timara is that any time I need her, I can just send her a text and she’s there, no matter what– little or big,” said Twanaye. “She’s just always there.”
TFCU drew Timara’s nomination of her sister at random from almost 600 entrants during the November 2021 contest. Twanyae received a $300 TFCU Visa® gift card and Timara a $100 TFCU Visa® gift card from the credit union. This contest is just one of the many ways Tinker Federal Credit Union gives back to its members all year long.
