New TFCU Member Daveen Blout never dreamed she’d win a $300 TFCU Visa® gift card just in time for the holidays. Fortunately her daughter, Phoenyx Baker-Blout, nominated her for the annual “TFCU Thankful for You” contest on social media and she won the prize.
“I nominated my Mom,” said Phoenyx. “She’s done so much for me and my sister in my barely 20 years of existence. I’m just so thankful for all she has done and continues to do for me.”
According to Daveen, “As a mom, I always listen–even to the small stuff that may not seem very important. I tell them I love them every day. I talk to my daughters every day. And I hug them every day.”
Another tip Daveen gives for parents, “We get in the car and drive around Lake Overholser to talk stuff out, particularly during the pandemic–just to get out. It’s what got us through.”
For someone who is always giving and thinking of others, to be recognized by her daughter made Daveen’s day. “I’ve been a stay-at-home mom forever. It makes me feel good to know someone is thankful.”
Beyond the recognition Daveen was also thankful for the money in December, “I hardly ever win anything, so this is exciting. Now I can go Christmas shopping because I haven’t bought anything! I don’t even have a list to check twice!”
