TFCU is a proud sponsor and advocate of our military forces. In 2016, we are partnering with Purple Heart Homes, whose motto is “improving veterans’ lives one home at a time.” Purple Heart Homes was founded by two veterans who came home after serving in Iraq, one a double amputee and the other with severe back injuries, Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress. To read more about their personal struggles that led them to start an organization designed to help disabled veterans come home to a safe barrier free home, go to www.phhusa.org.
Upon learning about Purple Heart Homes, TFCU leaders and employees decided this mission was one with which they wanted to be involved. This year, our credit union will identify one or more veterans who need repairs, readjustments or additions to their homes in order to live barrier-free. Our own employees will makes the necessary repairs of those we identify as needing assistance.
To stay in touch with what TFCU is doing to help veterans remain in their homes, and learn what you can do to help, continue to check in with us at dev.tinkerfcu.org. We’re just getting started, but will post regularly as we get into this service project further and make specific plans.
