OKLAHOMA CITY – Tinker Federal Credit Union (TFCU) Edmond branch supervisor Chih Chen graduated from the Southwest CUNA Management School (SCMS) on Wednesday, July 22. Chen is one of twenty-two TFCU employees who have completed the program.
The CUNA Management School (CMS) is a comprehensive three-year program for management- or professional-level employees who have an interest in leadership positions in the credit union industry. CMS has a well-earned reputation as an outstanding executive education program that has prepared over 5,000 students. TFCU sends selected participants to one of two schools – the SCMS in Fort Worth or CMS in Madison, Wisconsin.
Before entering CMS, Chen participated in TFCU’s LEAD Program, a training and development program for select employees to prepare for entry-level leadership roles at TFCU. He finished the program in 2013, and entered the SCMS in Fort Worth, where he began his studies on the campus of Texas Christian University. There, the students spend two weeks, each summer, learning about management concepts and functions such as analytical accounting, budgeting, asset/liability management and functional cost analysis.
“We are proud of Chih for what he has accomplished,” said TFCU President/CEO Michael Kloiber. “TFCU is an advocate of ongoing professional education, and we are pleased that Chih has taken the opportunity to invest in his own career by expanding his knowledge of management functions essential to credit union operations.”
TFCU is the largest credit union in Oklahoma, with $3.4 billion in assets, over 314,000 members and 687 employees.
