University of Oklahoma sophomore Benjamin Brim just won a $5,000 Back to Campus scholarship from TFCU. As a biochemistry major who is minoring in German, Benjamin has big plans. “It would be really cool to work with renewable energy and the environment,” said Benjamin. “And with my major, I’d like to work in the international community.”
When Benjamin heard about the TFCU scholarship contest, he was studying at the OU library and his mom sent him the information. According to Benjamin she said, “I just paid your bursar bill! You need to enter this—it doesn’t hurt to try! What are the odds?”
The odds ended up being one of more than 5,600 people who entered the TFCU contest, and Benjamin was one of five $5,000 scholarship winners. “It’s definitely a [financial] ease of mind,” said Benjamin. “It’s a lot less pressure. It’s exciting to catch a break, and I wish more people could receive it. I’m just humbled and honored.”
As a TFCU member, Benjamin also feels peace of mind. “Everyone in my family is a member of TFCU, and I’ve never had any problems. My accounts have always been safe,” said Benjamin. “I like that TFCU has modern technology, like the mobile app.”
Tinker Federal Credit Union offers its Back to Campus scholarship program each year. Students currently enrolled in affiliated Oklahoma colleges, universities or technical schools are eligible to enter.
