Member Benefits: Free Financial Education Workshops

What are the best smart phone apps to help track your finances? What is the difference between a private and federal student loan? How can I reach my long-term retirement goals? These are just a few of the questions Tinker Federal Credit Union answers through our financial education initiatives.

Whether you’re interested in an online course to help you keep up with the latest financial tools or an in-person workshop to teach students and teens about loan options for college, TFCU encourages you to take advantage of our free financial workshops.

To keep up with the latest financial trends, you can also access live online workshops every Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Facebook Live. Be sure to follow Tinker Federal Credit Union on Facebook, then tune in under “Live” videos on your desktop or smartphone to watch our workshop in real-time.

In addition to a range of financial workshops geared toward adults, TFCU also offers workshops tailored to children and young adults.

These classes provide opportunities for youth organizations, clubs and classrooms to receive professionally developed financial courses to help kids grow into balanced adults.

For teachers in need of video content, TFCU has archived a wide range of subjects and courses online at tinkerfcu.org/oklahoma-standards. From there, members and educators have unlimited free access to videos they can explore anytime, anywhere. These personal financial literacy video courses are designed for students in grades seven through twelve and include necessary standards for all Oklahoma students. Subjects range from income and taxes to banking and financial institutions, and though the courses are designed for students, members are also welcome to access the materials for other purposes.

As schools once again return to in-person learning, TFCU is offering live financial education courses in the classroom upon request. For parents and teachers who prefer remote learning, TFCU also offers virtual courses. Both in-person and virtual courses typically last 45 to 60 minutes. Educators or parents interested in more information can email financialeducationdept@tinkerfcu.org or call (405) 319-2089 to ask questions or set up a session.
