TFCU member Oscar Gonzalez won $5,000 as part of the credit union’s annual “College Cash” contest. As one of five winners in 2023, the engineering-focused student at Oklahoma City Community College was relieved when he heard about the big win.
“I was excited. I didn’t think it was real,” Oscar said. “It takes a lot of stress off my shoulders – a little help not having to worry about getting a full-time job. Now I can pay off this semester and most of next semester.”
Oscar previously worked in construction with this father’s business, leading him toward architectural and civil engineering. His dream is to first get a job in the profession and eventually start his own company in Oklahoma.
Oscar’s parents, Marisol and Oscar Gonzalez of Lindsay, OK, joined him for the “College Cash” presentation. “He’s really worked hard and devoted full-time to school,” Marisol said. “His goal is to transfer over to OU.”
When Oscar was 16, his mom brought him to TFCU to open his checking and savings account. Since then, he’s also gotten a TFCU credit card. “We first used the credit union in 2002 to finance a car, and it was just so easy,” Marisol said. “Since then, we’ve had all of our accounts here.”
