Evelyn Wing knows how to juggle life. With a husband serving as active duty in the Air Force, two young daughters, a part-time job working at a pharmacy and a full college course load, she manages to keep moving forward. “It’s busy and chaotic, but I like the fast pace,” said the Rose State nursing major. “I do homework when my daughters sleep.”
Evelyn heard about entering the $7,500 scholarship contest on Tinker Federal Credit Union’s Facebook page. When she received news from TFCU that she had won, “I think I was just stunned,” said Evelyn. “I immediately texted my husband and he was way excited. It took me a few hours later to realize it all…I was just stunned.”
Evelyn’s husband, also a full-time student, just returned home from a seven-month deployment. The couple switched to TFCU five years ago. Since then, they’ve opened a checking account, two savings accounts and had two car loans – with one now paid off. “I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed the credit union,” said Evelyn. “We like that TFCU is not-for-profit and that there are locations everywhere.”
This busy mom has big plans for her future. “I’m definitely going for my master’s degree once I get into the workforce,” said Evelyn. “I’m leaning toward ER nursing because I like the fast pace. I am also thinking about mom-and-baby nursing and becoming a midwife in a clinic.”
