Edgar & Shanese: “TFCU has always been there for my family.”

Around 35 years ago, Edgar Medina’s parents took him to TFCU’s Midwest City Branch to open his first savings account. Little Edgar was only three years old, so with his parents’ help, he deposited coins and birthday money to grow in his TFCU account. Not only was Edgar’s money about to grow, but also his life-long relationship with the credit union.

“One summer break during college, my mom handed me a TFCU application and told me I needed to apply,” said Edgar. “I had been working at Blockbuster video and needed a change. So I turned in the application, interviewed and got hired as a part-time teller at TFCU.”

As Edgar worked and proved himself, more doors opened at the credit union, and 16 years later, he’s now a TFCU assistant vice president and Capitol Hill branch manager. Edgar married his high school sweetheart, Shanese, 15 years ago, and she also joined the TFCU family of members. Over the years, they’ve used TFCU checking, debit cards, credit cards, auto loans and the mobile app and are now thinking about a new home and applying for a mortgage with the credit union. Plus, their two children have their own TFCU SaveAbles accounts.

“I think through the generations, TFCU has always been there for my family,” said Edgar. “I saw the level of trust my parents had with TFCU, and that allowed me to trust them. Now, as a leader with the credit union, I have been able to engage trust and build it within the Capitol Hill community I serve.”
